Club Opening Hours
Having been in the 'chair' a little over 3 months now I thought I ought to put some comments on what is happening and how we are progressing.
As far as the finances are concerned we are still running at a slight loss week on week. Unfortunately these losses will get greater as we go into the colder months.
The balcony roof has finally been repaired so the scaffolding should be coming down very soon. I am sure like me you will be glad to see the scaffolding go.
I am sure you are all well aware that much of what goes on with the day to day running of the club happens in the background so to speak with a few people getting themselves involved with the behind the scenes activities. I would like to sincerely thank all those who have helped out in the past and I hope you will continue to help in the future.
As is usual with this type of establishment we are always looking for volunteers both to just help out on a casual basis and also to join the committee and help to keep the club running. We have continued to advertise the club in the CIU Magazine, but currently are not receiving many coach parties. This could be down to a price increase or just the fact these companies tend to move to different suppliers regularly. We certainly could not afford to take them at last years prices where we were actually running at a slight loss.
Last year some of our members complained when we have coach parties in and I don't blame them but I would like to try and educate them into the reasons we sometimes have to do this. So far all the coaches we have had this year have been from other clubs and so they are bringing in much needed revenue.
I would like to welcome the "Street life" members to our club, and their support through the media.
The club secretary, has now left and we have a new Club Secretary in place. I hope you will all welcome Jeff back to the fold.
The 'New' Committee is beginning to gel and get things into order. I will continue to run the quiz nights and also the website until someone comes forward to take these over. Marianne is currently doing the entertainment side of things.
I would like to thank the 'Ragamuffin Rifles' for the bulk of the cleaning in the garden and also for their generous donation towards the buffet costs.
Finally I would like to thank all the staff for their help in a rather touchy time and putting up with all the committee members who while trying to help end up hindering them so much.
And also a bigTHANK YOU to all the members who continue to support us.
